Aurélia's Oratorio: Behind the red velvet curtain lies Aurélia’s Oratorio’s topsy-turvy world of surreal surprises, tricks, and transformations, where dreams come to life and the impossible happens before your very eyes. Aurélia Thierrée was first seen on stage as a young girl, performing with her parents Jean-Baptiste Thierrée and Victoria Thierrée Chaplin, creators of the famous Cirque Imaginaire and Cirque Invisible, which enjoyed a successful run at La Jolla Playhouse during the 1995 season. Free Youth Only Fishing Derby: It’s that time again when trout put on their thinking caps to outwit, outrun, and outlast parents and their kids at Poway’s annual Youth Fishing Derby at Lake Poway. Join the City of Poway, Captain Ron Baker formerly of Fish Talk Radio, and several big-name sponsors for a great day of fun and prizes, and it’s FREE! Registration for the event will begin at sunrise, fishing continues until noon, and then all participating youths and their families are invited to enjoy a tasty barbecue lunch courtesy of El Cajon Ford. State of Mind: A California Invitational In creating the Invitational, MoPA invited forty California-based curators, writers, gallery owners, and publishers to nominate photographers of note. MoPA juried the exhibition from this collective. While regional by way of where these photographers live, the issues within the photographs from State of Mind are global. They address what photographers from Berlin to Beijing are currently thinking about, among them: how photography continually re-invents itself, and how well it can describe the imaginary or reveal the invisible. $6 Adults, $4 students, Free to Members.
